Practice 15: Funnel & descriptive leads

 Funnel and descriptive lead

  1. School days, for some they are a time of innocence and joy, for others, a time of stress and suffering.
  2. But why is it that people think differently about them?
  3. Perhaps it is because of stress, some may be more stressed after school days while others had a hard time during them.
  4. That is because of the amount of time teenagers spend studying, attending classes and sending in homework.
  5. Due to all the stress teenagers face, making school longer would only bring more stress, more mental health problems and less academic success.

Now it is your turn to write a descriptive lead. Use the essay prompt to guide you. Remember that your lead does not need to be more than three to five sentences.

Essay Prompt: If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Brainstorm: Cottage, Ireland, society, stress, calm, nature, lakes, mountains.

  1. Suffering from anxiety affects many aspects of my life, I always feel like I have many expectations to accomplish and, sometimes, even the tiniest things overwhelm me.
  2. I know I should get some help, and I would, but I have a busy schedule and I can not seem to find time to dedicate to my mental health.
  3. Of course, if I do not have time for something as simple as that, it also implies that I do not have any leisure time, meaning I can not have any hobbies or passions of my own.
  4. That is why I often find myself wanting to run away from everything and confine myself from anxiety and work.
  5. Perhaps, going to an isolated cottage near a lake in Ireland would help me get away from anxiety and work as well as help me find myself.
